Using Photos in ArcSite

Add Photos to a Drawing

ArcSite has two photo tools. Embedded photos pin an image to a specific location on your canvas โ€” useful for documenting site conditions. Background photos place an image behind your drawing so you can trace or mark up over it โ€” useful for blueprints, existing plans, or aerial images.

Add an Embedded Site Photo

  1. Tap the Camera icon in the lower-right corner of the canvas.

  2. Tap the spot on the canvas where the photo was taken.

  3. Take a photo or choose one from your library.

  4. Move the camera icon to the exact location on the drawing. Rotate it to point toward where you were standing when you took the shot.

Once placed, you can mark up the photo using any of ArcSite's drawing tools.

Tips

  • To select a photo icon: tap Multi-Select > use Box Select or Freehand Select to capture it.

  • To delete: select the photo, then tap Delete in the bottom-left corner.

  • Photos can't be copied and pasted between drawings. See Copy and Paste Between Drawings.

Add a Background Photo

  1. Tap the Photo icon in the top-right corner of the canvas.

  2. Choose Take Photo or Photo Library.

The photo appears as a background layer. Use any drawing tool to mark up directly over it.

Tips

  • To hide the background without deleting it: tap the Settings gear > toggle Background off.

  • To delete it: tap Multi-Select > Freehand Select > draw over the photo > tap Delete in the bottom-left corner.
