Single and Multiple Selection Options

Selecting objects makes them "active," allowing you to move, edit, or delete them.

[!NOTE] These instructions apply to ArcSite version 15.4 and later. If you are using an older version, please update your app to access these selection behaviors.

Select Single or Multiple Objects

You can select objects one by one or use a selection area to grab multiple items at once.

Single Selection

  • Select: Tap an object on the canvas.

  • Cumulative Select: Tap additional objects one after another. All selected objects will remain active.

  • Deselect: Tap any blank space on the canvas or tap the Deselect icon in the bottom-left corner.

Box Selection

  1. Press and hold at any corner of the area you want to select.

  2. Drag your finger across the objects.

  3. Lift to finalize. Selection Direction Matters:

  • Left to Right: Only selects objects that are entirely inside the box.

  • Right to Left: Selects any object the box touches.

Multiple Select

Box Select

Make your selections by drawing a "box" over top of them.

  1. Press down at any corner of the area you want to define.

  2. Drag to include the objects you want to select. A rectangular / square selection area is created.

  3. Once the area is defined, lift your finger to finalize.

  • Select left to right โ€“ your select path must cover the entire object in order for it to be included in the overall selection

  • Select from right to left โ€“ you only need to select anywhere on an object for it to be included in the selection

Cumulative Select

Select multiple objects, one at a time.

  1. Tap on a screen object

  2. Tap on another object

  3. Continue to select additional objects

Unlike the default option behavior where only one object will be active at a time, all of the selected objects will remain selected/active in this mode.

Using the Multiselect Tool

The Multiselect tool provides more control over how you define selection areas.

  1. Tap the MultiSelect icon (2nd icon from the top) on the right-hand toolbar.

  2. Long-press the icon to choose your selection mode:

    • Box Select: Drag to create a rectangular selection area.

    • Free Select: Draw a freeform shape (lasso) around specific objects.

  3. The app will remember your last used mode the next time you tap the tool.
