How to edit a drawing

Learn about how you can select elements on your canvas to unlock the edit tools that help you adjust, rotate, duplicate, and trim lines.

This lesson teaches the basic editing skills needed to draw more efficiently.

Lesson Content:

  • How to adjust the length.

  • How to move and position items on your canvas.

  • How to rotate and duplicate.

  • How to trim or extend.

How to adjust the length.

1. Tap the select tool from the right-side canvas menu then tap the free select option. Next, tap a line you wish to adjust.

2. Now, you can either tap the measurement value box of your selected line and enter a new value to adjust or you can tap the end point of the line and drag it to the needed length.

How to move and position items on your canvas.

1. Tap the select tool from the right-side canvas menu then tap the free select option. Next, tap a line or element you wish to move. Then tap the move control cross arrow icon to drag the line to a new area without adjusting the current length.

2. Once you've moved the line or selected element to the position you want, unselect by tapping an empty area on the canvas.

How to rotate and duplicate.

1. Tap the select tool from the right-side canvas menu then tap the free select option. Next, tap a line or element you wish to rotate or duplicate.

2. Once the line or element is selected, tap the rotate icon to change orientation.

5. If you wish to quickly duplicate a line or element, tap the create a copy icon and a duplicate will appear on your canvas. You'll then need to select that duplicated line or element to adjust the placement.

How to extend a line to another line

1. If you have a gap between two lines, tap the Edit icon in the bottom right menu.

2. Then choose the Extend option icon

3. Finally, tap and hold the end of the line you want to extend and pull to extend the line to the appropriate location.

How to trim a line

As an example, if you were to draw a box, but instead of ending at the corner perfectly you continued with a small line.

1. Tap the Edit icon in the bottom right menu.

2. Then choose the Trim option icon

3. Finally, tap and hold the end of the line you want to trim and pull back to shorten.
